The following bereavement leave company policy will outline the provisions that have been
made for the employees who have lost a member of either their family or within a close
connection. During such an unfortunate event we want to support our employees and help
them provide the time to mourn and cope. This bereavement policy provided to the
employees may either be paid or an unpaid time off based on the company’s policy along
with the country’s leave policy.
The following guidelines will be expected to be followed by the employees of the
organization:
1. An immediate family member can be defined as a spouse or domestic partner,
first-degree relatives, grandchildren, grandparents, uncles, nieces, nephews, aunts,
half and step-relatives, legal guardians, as well as adopted parents or in-laws.
2. At a minimum, there will be a bereavement leave of [number of days] days provided
after the death of the member. For the following reason the bereavement leave can be
utilized:
- Resolving any matters related to inheritance
- Attendance and arrangement of funeral services
- Personal mourning
- Fulfillment of any obligations related to family
3. If any additional matters need to be handled then the employee will be eligible to claim additional time off.
